Unusual Foods - say it ain't so...

I have a habit of reading constantly. If I'm in the grocery store waiting for some reason, I pick up packets nearby and read the ingredients.

I found out Jujubes contain white mineral oil.
It's ok, they also say it only "adds a trivial amount of fat"

Yuck.

I'm glad I'm not the only person to do that. I seem to have to be reading all the time. I read everywhere including the grocery store (choose either ingredients or what Britney's up to these days).

I read in the bathroom (tampon instructions, toothpaste ingredients).

I usually commit those obscure facts to memory...but ask me if I remembered to turn off the water in the bath tub...duh????

I like to think you're in great company!

I read shampoo labels. The words there are REeeeeeeeeeeeally long.

Mineral oil I have not seen before, and I read food labels in self-protection, every day. Yuck.

Mountain Dew (and other citrus-based pops) contain Brominated Vegetable Oil. First off, vegetable oil is for frying, not drinking. Second, if I have to look up the word brominated, it can't be good. And it wasn't. Seems that brominated means (duh) "having bromide added". So I looked up bromide. It's a chemical that is added to some medicines (yike), to photography developing solutions. and to FUEL ADDITIVES that are used to clean your car's motor.

NOW you know why Mountain Dew causes such pretty green poop, you get your own motor cleaned out with it..... (And we won't even think about how it affected my babes when I was nursing them, before I read the label!!!) Can you say, DON'T INHALE!!! LOL

Needless to say, I no longer drink Mountain Dew (or any other pop that has BVO in it)...
